Will the NBN change the way we are seen online?
A report issued by CISCO recently has forecast some very
interesting statistics for Australia, with the major focus being on new
technologies and of course broadband speed evolution featuring very heavily.
The report predicts that the average broadband speed will grow 4.6-fold from
2011 to 2016, from 7.9 (megabits per second) Mbps to 36 Mbps. This will make a
massive difference to the time spent uploading and downloading data. In fact it
says 95% of broadband connections will be faster than 5 Mbps in 2016, up from
54% today. If you have ever spent time twiddling your thumbs between
downloads or when streaming videos or attending webinars you know how great
this would be.
So what will be the impact on business? Well if you want to provide services online or present information on You Tube or other visual media you will be able to do so with much more confidence. CISCO has also stated that internet video traffic will be 36% of all consumer Internet traffic in 2016, up from 58% in 2011. Indeed 14 billion minutes of video content will cross the Internet each month in 2016, up from 4 billion in 2011. So you CAN have your 15 minutes of fame and at the same time reap the benefits for your business. Give it a go – get a You Tube Channel for your business and never say never!
