How can I use a SMART phone for my business?

How can I use a SMART phone for my business?

In Australia 51% of mobile phones are now Smartphones and these can offer huge benefits for business. The top 6 things you can do are:
1.       Make your business contact mobile – get work emails direct to your phone, read, respond and compose your emails really making your business available 24/7.
2.       Upload real time information to your social media sites – using Facebook and Twitter you can let people know of events you are attending and why! You can “check in” at popular locations and book “coffee catch up meetings” with businesses.
3.       Make last minute changes to your banking – access your banks online portal to check your balance, transfer cash to avoid charges and pay invoices.
4.       Find locations – your phone has an inbuilt GPS so you never have to be late to another meeting you can get directions from your current location to the meeting address quickly and easily.
5.       Check out the weather – not such a silly idea for business, especially in the tropics. Who wouldn’t want to be forewarned about the cyclone, flooding or hailstones which are forecast?
6.       Download the barcode scanner application – make your phone a portable scanner and get all the latest offers, links to websites and business card details. While you are at it create your own QR Code at www.qrstuff.com it’s a great shortcut for your emails and business cards.

If you haven’t already got a smartphone for your business then ask yourself - why not?

Will the NBN change the way we are seen online?

A report issued by CISCO recently has forecast some very interesting statistics for Australia, with the major focus being on new technologies and of course broadband speed evolution featuring very heavily. The report predicts that the average broadband speed will grow 4.6-fold from 2011 to 2016, from 7.9 (megabits per second) Mbps to 36 Mbps. This will make a massive difference to the time spent uploading and downloading data. In fact it says 95% of broadband connections will be faster than 5 Mbps in 2016, up from 54% today.  If you have ever spent time twiddling your thumbs between downloads or when streaming videos or attending webinars you know how great this would be.

So what will be the impact on business? Well if you want to provide services online or present information on You Tube or other visual media you will be able to do so with much more confidence. CISCO has also stated that internet video traffic will be 36% of all consumer Internet traffic in 2016, up from 58% in 2011. Indeed 14 billion minutes of video content will cross the Internet each month in 2016, up from 4 billion in 2011. So you CAN have your 15 minutes of fame and at the same time reap the benefits for your business. Give it a go – get a You Tube Channel for your business and never say never!
